Friday Feature: Reasons Why Trading Partners Are Important

“The law of attraction is real, because once you establish who you are and what you want out of life combined with action, people who are like you will gravitate towards you out of nowhere and that’s why we have the community we have here at Tackle Trading.”

Marques Johnson —

I was thinking to myself what would I like to bring to the community this week that could be helpful towards what we do on a daily basis. Obviously trading and what’s one thing I would tell someone or remind someone to keep them focused or keep them accountable.

It took me a minute, but I thought about the community again and what came to mind was knowing how having trading partners is important in our approach or decision making. So, let me lay out a couple of reasons that stand out to me why I believe this is critical in trading.

Friday Feature: Reasons Why Trading Partners Are Important - Reason #1 Accountability

Reason #1: Accountability

Look, I love trading, but I’d be lying to you if I said I woke up every single day ready to do my daily routine, checking my positions to manage if necessary, etc. Especially when you have other things that we all have to do in life to take care of, whether that be your career, kids, stress and all other things that could easily distract us or take the easy way out and not take care of our business.

More often than not, I’m ready to attack the day, but on those days that I don’t and I get a text message from Coach Em or a personal mentor of mine Bobby Shannon (check the Environmental Hedging blog) about a trade they’re eyeing or to just ask me how am I doing?

I immediately think about my own trading and it forces me to stay on my game when my mind wants to check out for a day. Having that steady dose of discipline on a regular basis, are those small daily wins that compound into you being a disciplined trader and being disciplined never failed anyone wrong … ever.

Make sure you find some quality trading partners to be able to reach out to that will keep you true to what you are trying to accomplish.

Friday Feature: Reasons Why Trading Partners Are Important - Reason #2 We’re Better Together

Reason #2: We’re Better Together

As a kid or as an adult, everybody wants to be a part of something, whether they like to admit or not.

When you are a part of a community (a.k.a. Tackle Trading) it doesn’t matter if you win or lose at the end of the day because there will always be someone there to pick you up when you’re down and to cheer you on for your success. Having a team makes you feel responsible and it immediately should make you expect more from yourself because there is nothing worse I personally believe in life, to let someone down who believes in you and has invested time in trying to put you in a position to be successful.

The coaches here at Tackle Trading have put in countless hours of work for a small cost for us on a monthly basis, for us to prosper financially to provide us a better quality of life and most importantly a peace of mind.

Going out to find like-minded people will truly keep you focused on your goals because it naturally forces you to stick to what you set out to do and the law of attraction is real, because once you establish who you are and what you want out of life combined with action, people who are like you will gravitate towards you out of nowhere and that’s why we have the community we have here at Tackle Trading.

A co-worker of mine, Steve Andrus, used to say all the time, and probably still does, that if you are trading by yourself, you are not in a good space and that couldn’t be more true because I know for myself, when I have gone weeks or even months without contact with another trader I can honestly my trading isn’t nearly as sharp.

I urge you to at least find one individual who you trust and can confide into to keep yourself safe and disciplined to what is necessary for you to be successful on a daily basis because we all need guidance or a second opinion at times no matter how good we become.

Marques Johnson. Full-time Trader.

I’m from Virginia and I grew up in a military home where I was raised by two parents who provided me the best of both worlds from how to be a good person and how to be self-sufficient in life. I’ve been trading for three years now and each year there’s always something significant I learn because the markets are changing all the time. I particularly focus on trading stock and futures options but trading isn’t the only thing I’m passionate about. Fitness is a significant aspect of my life and personal training is what I do throughout the day, so the balance of trading and fitness is a great mix for me mentally and physically which keeps me motivated every day.

Thanks Marques. I’ve always known having a trading partner would benefit me but never really sought out one. Felt-like-I-could-do-this-on-my-own kind of thing. And this post really woke me up to the idea. Feel free to hit me up any time brother.

Hi Marques, Thanks for the article, I appreciate your humble articles you write. I live in the Baltimore area and have been mentoring with Micah and Gino for a little bit now. I always appreciate trading partners and it sounds like you have a few already but if you would like to talk sometime and share best/worst practices I would be more than happy to talk and maybe link up since we are close by. Hope to hear from you, jarretstone14@gmail.com
