≈ SSA to the rescue! ≈

Inflation pressures continue to threaten the standard of living of retirees. To help combat the inevitable decline of purchasing power, the Social Security Administration (SSA) announced a 5.9% bump in social security payments for 2022. Long-time recipients will tell you that such a significant increase is highly atypical. In fact, this is the largest “pay raise” in almost 30 years. You have to go back to 1982 to find a higher lift in payments (7.4%).
I hate to rain on the parade of those excited about the higher paydays to come, but remember that these increases aren’t meant to elevate retirees’ standard of living. They’re simply meant to maintain it. If your costs increase 5.9% at the same time your income rises 5.9%, then there’s no real change in your situation.
If you want to build wealth (that is, increase your net worth and income in real dollar terms), then you need an asset whose rate of return grows well beyond the pace of inflation. Tomorrow’s message will divulge just such an investment whose cash return is forecasted to rise nearly 20% over the next three years.
