One step at a time

As a student of the markets there are opportunities to grow daily.  When you run your daily trading routine, you go through news, market analysis, portfolio management, trade management, new trade research, new trade entry, journaling, and continued education. It is important to develop processes so that you are efficient with your time and effective with your decision making.

All the steps you take daily are important, but do not forget the last one.  Continued education is crucial in any field, and it is true in developing as a trader as well.  There are many mediums to learn from, including reading a book from our suggested reading, listening to a podcast, attending a webinar like the trader’s lounge, halftime report or a nightly show, or discussing concepts with other traders.

What do you do to study up on the markets?  Have you defined your short, intermediate, and long-term goals for your education?  Just like your trades need a plan, your education needs a plan.  It is important to have structure. Here is a challenge of the day: spend some time writing down your education goals for this month and next month to finish the year of 2020 strong.  Make sure your goals are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time bound (SMART).  This will help you stay focused on your process and allow you to grow one day and one step at a time.
