Tackle Today: Options Power #2: Cash Flow
May 5, 2022
«Passive Income Beckons.»
Stock investors love their dividends. Getting quarterly checks for your ownership stake in the world’s great companies warms the soul. It also serves as a reminder of the income-producing potential of equity investing. And did I mention the best companies keep increasing their paydays? Apple, for instance, just bumped its quarterly dividend another 5%.
Who doesn’t love a raise?
Here’s how you can take it to a new level. The options market offers the potential to supercharge your cash flow with strategies like covered calls. The S&P 500 offers a dividend yield of only 1.3% these days. That’s an annualized number, so it takes a full year to capture. The beautiful thing about a covered call is you could score 1.3% every month. Of course, the returns vary, and if the stock drops, you could see a drawdown in the position.
Nonetheless, learning how to sell calls against your stock positions will show you the income-producing potential of options contracts.
