This Is How You Plan. ≈

Traders,

Every week we scan the markets in search of the best swing trading setups. Then we share our findings in our weekend Scouting Reports. Though there are dozens of patterns taught in the world of technical analysis, we tend to focus on what you might call “the core four.” They include bull retracements, bull breakouts, bear retracements, and bear breakouts.

Discovering each pattern involves analyzing trend, momentum, support & resistance, volume, and secondary indicators.

Of course, identifying a tradable setup is only part of the equation. Successfully entering, managing, and exiting positions around each pattern requires two other ingredients: building and executing the plan. The common trading phrase you hear about this is “plan your trade and trade your plan.” Our S.T.E.P Swing Trading System is explicitly designed to help you do this.

S is for Stop Loss

T is for Target

E is for Entry

P is for Position Sizing

Together, these four parts are what comprise a trading plan.

Over the following few Tackle Today messages, we’ll shed more light on each piece.

Will the 50-day Save Us?

The S&P 500 sunk again on Tuesday, with widespread selling pressure across all sectors. Two things should give bulls hope. First, we’re only 2.18% off the highs. Second, the 50-day moving average is fast approaching. The past five touches of this oft-watched indicator have resulted in a rebound.

7-Step Guide to Trading – Step 1: Conduct Market Analysis

Step #1: Conduct #MarketAnalysis. Survey the overall financial markets to get a read on what’s happening on the technical charts, in the news, and around the world. This is also known as a top-down approach to the markets. The ultimate goal here is to develop an opinion – also called market posture – on where you believe the charts are pointing. Depending on your overall opinion, you’ll choose to use certain strategies or techniques.?
