Tackle Today: Swing trading stocks

Do you trade the core patterns?

In August, the coaches at Tackle Trading put on a special event on YouTube.  The educational topics varied from swing trading, options trading, Thinkorswim organization, scanning for trades and more.  Over the next few days, we will be posting each segment individually on our YouTube channel so that you can review them more easily.

The first hour of the marathon featured Coach Noah Davidson.  Noah taught us the basics of Swing Trading stocks, using principles like trend and pattern identification, the CORE 1-2-3 uptrend pattern and more.  Swing trading is a popular, and powerful style of trading for trained and rule-based technicians.

If you have not developed your rules for swing trading yet, consider starting with the STEP System course and work on each of the four core tradable patterns one at a time.  You should know exactly how to trade a Bullish Breakout, Bullish Retracement, Bearish Breakdown, and Bearish Retracement.

There are different styles of trading, and Swing trading is just one of them.  But, if you’re going to use the techniques properly, you have to have the proper mindset for swing trading and build specific rules (stop loss, target, entry and position sizing).

Watch the tutorial from Noah, and get the basics down, then start working on the STEP System and build the specifics into your trading rules.

Chart of the Day

Core 1-2-3 Uptrend Pattern

When swing trading, it is important to understand how patterns and trends develop.  The CORE 1-2-3 Uptrend Pattern occurs after a consolidation, then a breakout (1) into an over-extended condition (2) and finally a bullish retracement (3).
