In 1850, Frédéric Bastiat published an essay titled “Ce qu’on voit et ce qu’on ne voit pas”“That Which We See and That Which We Do Not See” in English, commonly known as “The Parable of the Broken Window”.

Put options are contracts that give you the right to sell something at a set price at or before a set date.  When trading put options, you can speculate on the downside of falling stock prices (Long Put) and even protect your downside risk of investments you own in equity (Protective Put).  You can even hedge your portfolio with the negative delta that put options bring mathematically.

If you’re using put options, great!  If not, you should consider adding them into your portfolio design for the many uses they bring.  If you’re new to options, you should take the Options 101 course at Tackle Trading to learn about the basics.  You can access the course here: https://tackletrading.com/course/options-101/

If you’re a veteran, and looking to learn Bear Market hedging techniques, consider joining the Bear Market Survival Guide team so you can get a full system on how to use these powerful products.  You can sign up for that course here: https://tackletrading.com/course/bear-market-survival-guide/

Let us know how we can help you best learn put options, as they are a powerful tool for a savvy investor.
