Tackle Today: The Stock Market is whatever you want it to be

≈ Freedom. ≈

We don’t know how to deal with such a level of freedom.

We look at it, stare at it for a while; we perceive it and interpret it. From that interpretation, we know what to expect from it. And this is what we will be trading from that moment on until we change our perception.

Instead of just a place where we buy and sell financial assets, it can assume any form we wish:

A circus.
A mental institution.
A casino.
A circus inside a mental institution.
A casino inside a mental institution.
A place where you buy bits and pieces of companies.
A warehouse.
A place to profit from other people’s panics.
A place where you’ll never step foot again.
A way of life.
A magical place.
A cold, damp and desolated place.
A perfect place to not have direct contact with another human.
A place where you make loads of money.
A place where you lose loads of money.
A place that is all over the place. Pure Prozac.
A long-term marriage (heaven or hell, whatever that means to you).
A brick and mortar retail store.
A supermarket.
A place where geniuses fail.
A place to breed turtles.
Feast or famine.
A place that looks like the road to heaven but feels like the road to hell.
A place where you buy high and sell low.
A place where you buy low and sell high.

Whatever the case is for you, it’s not the markets you trade, but your perception of it.

All we have to do now
Is take these lies and make them true somehow

Chart of the Day

Just candles

If we bring the stock market to the lowest common denominator, we find a place to buy and sell financial assets. Above is the S&P 500 E-mini Futures, YTD (2019). Green candles, red candles, shadows, money flowing in and out, day in, day out, lows, highs, open and close.

But that’s not what we see.
