Women in Trading: The year that was

December 28, 2017

Happy Holidays Tackle Traders! 2017 will soon be in the rearview mirror and I find myself reflecting on the good, the bad and the ugly of 2017. First and foremost, I am extremely grateful to the coaches at Tackle for giving Women In Trading a platform and for allowing me to share my thoughts. I am also humbled and honored for the love and support of our tackle community blog readers. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to read the content from all the contributors here at Tackle.  Two years ago Women in Trading was an idea on a whiteboard in Coach Tim’s office and here we are now. My hope is that in 2018 we will continue to reach as many women and continue to bring awareness to the importance of trading and financial education. I have surely enjoyed writing these blogs and special thanks to the guest contributors for sharing their trading journey as well. As for trading, I’ve been on chill mode with my trading this week and last week as well. Apart from managing my trades I have taken a break from trading and been hanging out with family playing our favorite board game Scrabble.

giphy (2).gif As we reflect on 2017, preparing and setting goals for 2018 is just important. Just like in sports, the 2017 season is over and come 2018 your p&l is back to zero so work on a game plan if you have not done so already. One of the things I want to get good at is journaling my trades. I was not as consistent with that in 2017 and I want to keep better track of the types of trades I tend to do most. Obviously, I am a more a seller than a buyer of options but keeping track of the types of spreads, stocks, days to expiration is just as important. Also documenting which trades expired with full profit and which ones required management and of course, the ones that just went the opposite direction. Perfecting Theta targeting and trading the futures market is also on the books for 2018 and I will adjust as needed as the year goes on.

If you are on a break from trading like myself, take this time to prepare for 2018 get some family time in and you’d like to catch up on some reading here the link to the Women in Trading blogs in case you missed one.
