Tackle Today: Events in the Market This Week

The Dow and S&P 500 start the week at all-time highs as April has started off with a bang. April tends to be one of the best performing months in the stock market and it hasn’t disappointed us so far. Aside from seasonality, sentiment has shifted favorably over the last week. Progress concerning the vaccine rollout and the prospects of further stimulus have been supportive of prices and the infrastructure bill and recent economic data have been robust. On top of that, earnings season is right around the corner and the last couple of earnings seasons have been stellar. While stories can shift quickly in the market there is very little happening this week (economic reports, earnings) to create catalysts to shift current sentiment (although Jerome Powell speaks on Thursday which should always be watched). Fundamental Analysis
Fundamental analysis is one of four pillars that we need to learn to ensure that our trading foundation is rock solid. Essentially, Fundamental Analysis is a system of comparing the valuation of one company versus another. There are a million different metrics we could use to compare companies but we are going to focus on a chosen few that have served me and my peers well in their investing and trading lives. We must remember we need a thorough understanding of the business we are in but that doesn’t mean we need to know every detail of every aspect of the business.
