≈ For some more volatility. ≈
We start the week with several major markets sitting at support (S&P 500, Dow 30, NASDAQ 100) and others recently broken through short-term support (Russell 2000). In additional all four of these markets are below their weekly and daily short-term moving averages and several other indicators are producing bearish signals.
The economic calendar this week is comprised of several inflationary reports starting with PPI on Tuesday, CPU on Wednesday and Export and Import Prices on Thursday. While Retail Sales and Industrial Production reports come in on Friday there is a good chance that the short-term support areas will have held or will have been broken before the end of the week.
So, what are you to do in such volatile trading conditions? Traders with a concrete trading plan will already have the answer to that question but if you haven’t reached that level of refinement please join us during our numerous shows this week and we will do our best to help you navigate a critical week in the market. Our shows are listed out each day here in our daily email and you can be assured that the hosts of each of these shows will be giving 100 percent of their talent and effort to provide you the best possible content this week.
If you have any questions during the week or have topics you would like covered in one of our shows, please email us at team@tackletrading.com. Have a wonderful week!
Chart of the Day
S&P 500 (SPY)
A major test of support could happen on the SPY (a popular ETF designed to mirror the S&P 500) as soon as the early part of this week. A similar test of support on the DIA (a popular ETF designed to mirror the Dow Jones Industrial Average) is also set up. While there are no major events this week that could serve as a catalyst to break support, price action from the last couple of months has shown that bearish signals can occur rapidly in this environment.
