≈ Making passions run high since 1976. ≈
“There are two kinds of people in the world: people who say Apple isn’t just a company, it’s a cause; and people who say Apple isn’t a cause, it’s just a company. Both groups are right. Nature has suspended the principle of noncontradiction where Apple is concerned. […] Apple is two guys in a garage undertaking the mission of bringing computing power, once reserved for big corporations, to ordinary individuals with ordinary budgets.”
Phil Lemmons for Byte Magazine, December 1984 —
This statement held true until the end of Steve Jobs’ era when he passed away in late 2011. May he rest in peace.
It is impossible to talk about Apple without making passions run high. At least it was. Companies are made of people. In many situations, we are not able to identify the faces behind a logo, especially when it comes to huge corporations, however, as far as Apple goes, the face behind the forbidden fruit was omnipresent. Jobs was Apple and Apple was Jobs. Being such a complex individual himself, well, no wonder emotions were high when referring to him or his company.
Traders have an advantage, though. They could not care less. The chart is the chart and that is what matters. The size of the company or the scandals surrounding a particular figure is only factored into the trader’s decision once the chart is affected. Other than that, who’s Apple anyway?
