«Live. Die. Repeat»
In the Tom Cruise movie Edge of Tomorrow, Cruise plays the role of Major William Cage. In the movie, invincible aliens attack the earth and start to wreak havoc. Cruise finds himself deployed to a beach for a battle where he is killed within moments but is thrown into a time loop where he relives the same fight over and over and over again.
Live. Die. Repeat.
Downtrends can feel like this at times. It feels invincible. You wake up and seemingly repeat the same battle again that you just fought the previous seemingly infinite days. There are brief moments of hope bringing life to short-term price action only the be slapped down by falling moving averages and find yourself in a similar situation the next day.
Live. Die. Repeat
No trend lasts forever no matter what it feels like in the present. Eventually support levels form. Eventually the selling stops. Eventually the chart manifests the start of the next bullish trend. Patience is key during these market “time loops” and traders that exercise caution, discipline, hedging and implement trade management techniques do not have to participate in the carnage in the same degree as others and are set up to take advantage of the next great market opportunity.
Major William Cage eventually won his battle. So shall you.
