Morning Investor!
While there undoubtedly will be news surrounding a wide range of subjects, earnings season is going to be front and center this week. This is perhaps one of the most widely anticipated earnings seasons ever. While the storylines will change and evolve over the next few weeks it is kicking off on earnest this week. Here are some of the notable earnings and storylines heading into the week:
Notable Earnings This Week
- Monday: PepsiCo (PEP)
- Tuesday: Citigroup (C), Delta Air Lines (DAL), Fastenal (FAST), JPMorgan Chase (JPM) and Wells Fargo (WFC)
- Wednesday: Goldman Sachs (GS), U.S. Bancorp (USB), United Health Group (UNH) and Alcoa (AA)
- Thursday: Abbott Labs (ABT), Charles Schwab (SCHW), Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM), Domino’s Pizza (DPZ), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), Bank of America (BAC), Morgan Stanley (MS) and Netflix (NFLX)
- Friday: Ally Financial (ALLY), Kansas City Southern (KSU), and BlackRock (BLK)
Earnings Big Themes:
- Q2 profits are expected to be down 44% for S&P companies. Where will it come in regarding those lowered expectations?
- Will full year guidance start up again after most companies stopped publishing it last quarter?
- Almost every company got a pass last quarter no matter how terrible their earnings were. There were almost no huge gaps or moves to the downside after earnings. Will that pattern continue, or will there be more price movement following individual earnings reports?
Naturally we will be analyzing and reporting on all the earnings news this week on the Trader’s Lounge, Halftime Report, Trading Justice podcast and our nightly shows. Have a wonderful start to your week and email us if there is anything we can do to make your week better.
