≈ Never, ever ever give up. ≈
Resiliency is a personality trait that our culture has always admired. We cherish the single parent going back to school, working two jobs while raising a family a better life. We stand up and applaud entrepreneurs who work through failures who end up ultimately succeeding. We raise a fist in celebration for athletes who overcomes circumstance, injury, and other obstacles. We admire, root for and cherish those who demonstrate resiliency as these individuals help remind us of the depths and beauty of the human soul and what we can accomplish as human beings.
There are many famous examples of resiliency we can draw inspiration from:
Chicken Soup for the Soul was rejected nearly 140 times
John Grisham’s first book was rejected by 12 publishing houses
The Beatles were turned down by a recording company because the recording company didn’t like their sound.
Thomas Edison was told by a teacher that he was “too stupid to learn anything.”
Charles Darwin was told by his father “that he would never amount to anything.”
Beethoven was told by a music teacher that he was hopeless as a composer.
Albert Einstein was told by many teachers that he would never amount to much.
Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team only to become arguably the greatest basketball player to ever play.
Walt Disney was fired from his newspaper job because he lacked imagination and then went on to ignite the imaginations of millions of children.
Issac Newton failed at running the family farm and went on to become one of the most influential scientists the world has ever known.
Perhaps you have failed in life before and doubt yourself. Perhaps you have those around you who are telling you that you cannot succeed. Perhaps you have made a few mistakes in trading recently and feel like throwing in the towel. If you run into these moments today or in the future draw upon the resilient examples in history and the words of Winston Churchill.
‘Never, ever ever ever ever give up.’
Chart of the Day
SPY
The SPY, a popular ETF that tracks the S&P 500 starts the week hovering above the 20-day moving average. A pullback to the 20-day moving average is a popular bullish trading signal and this particular signal has done very well over the last four months and as long as news surrounding the trade war is moderate could very well continue that pattern.

During my last blog (LINK) I talked about the “Cold Shower” effect. The importance of understanding the big picture, the current market condition and the FED actions, and getting ready to surf the bear market whenever it comes. Well, little did the market care about neither my blog, the FED, Trump, Elon, Cold-Shower, nor anything else…it keeps breaking resistances.
