Tackle Today: Stock of the Week: CL (Colgate Vintage Ad)

≈ Clean teeth and dividends. ≈

What is the first thing that comes into your mind when you think of Colgate-Palmolive? For me, 2 things: toothpaste and dividends.

Colgate-Palmolive is in charge of producing many of the oral, personal and home care product we know for more than 200 years. 213 to be more exact as the company was founded in 1806 by William Colgate who started a starch, soap, and candle business in New York City, making it one of the oldest companies in the US stock market.

Colgate is a Dividend King, a stock with more than 50 consecutive years of dividend increases. Here are some figures:

– Market Cap: ≈ $63 billion
– Dividend yield: 2.33%
– Payout ratio: 62.6%
– Beta 0.5

A nice and stable dividend, and a slow Beta. A defensive play for your portfolio, for sure.

But what about trading?

You voted you got it: Colgate-Palmolive (NYSE: CL) is the Stock of the Week on Tackle’s Instagram.

Go to our profile and check the analysis done by Coach Gino Poore; the anatomy of CL’s set up is thoroughly dissected for you. The stock was also one of the Options Report picks, so you don’t wanna miss it.

(CL is also what you get if you mistype the Oil Futures ticker symbol on TOS. Watch out!)

Now, Colgate-Palmolive reminds me of three things: toothpaste, dividends and a nice trading set up.
