Markets are up at the start of the week as rising rate fears of eased a little at the start of the week. The 10y yield hit as high as 1.61% on Thursday but has fallen as low as 1.43% on Monday morning. While this certainly will not be the main storyline impacting the market indefinitely, it has become the dominate theme over the last couple of trading sessions with techs performance in particular tied to whether rates have gone up or down on that trading day. Key events this week include speeches from Jay Powell and other Fed members who undoubtedly will stay on point with recent talking points. The monthly unemployment report will play extra significance this week in a classic market “good news is bad news” possible scenario with ongoing worries that the economy is on a path to overheating.
