I am looking at the week ahead and creating four “baskets” of new catalysts that can impact that market: Earnings, Monetary Policy, Employment and War

Earnings – While many companies will trickle in over the coming weeks, I personally consider Apple earnings week the last significant week of earnings season. By the end of the week, we will have enough companies reporting that we will have a pretty good snapshot of earnings and we will have all the big dogs reported. Apple report Thursday after the market close.

Monetary Policy – Fed week…although seems a little lost in other headlines to be honest. Still, they meet this week, report on Wednesday and Powell will give is third speech in the last couple weeks. Seems all a bit anti-climactic but we tune in in case it is not.

Employment Data – Employment week is probably the most important week of all the economic weeks moving forward as it is central to talks of recession or Fed policy shifts. This week it finds itself fighting for competition but certainly can steal the headlines if the data comes in strong or weak one way or another.

War – Until the fears of the war escalating beyond the current geographical territory subside this will remain a market story because of the impact on oil, and let’s be honest, the stoking of human fears that this could lead to something worse. This undoubtedly has played a role in sentiment and we discussed this on the Trading Justice podcast yesterday.
