Here are some interesting observations from the BofA Global Research version shown below.

• Thanks to energy, commodities took the top spot, up 28.7%
• While rising interest rates torpedoed everything else, it vaulted cash to second place, up 1.3%
• Gold was a bastion of stability, closing near unchanged for the year.
• Everything else fell double digits.
• The housing market struggled as mortgage rates nearly tripled. REITS came in last place, down 24.4%.
