Tackle Today: The Second Sun

Every time I look at the sky I see just one Sun. Going relentlessly up and down every day, sometimes more to the West, sometimes more to the East. Sometimes just providing light with no heat, others providing too much heat. Nonetheless, there he is.
In my craziest dreams, however, after avidly reading my science-fiction heroes, I look at the sky and I see two Suns. Like in the novel “2010: Odyssey Two”, Jupiter—now Lucifer, which means “morning star” in Latin—becomes the second Sun in Earth’s sky. A cold one to Earth but a warmer one to Europans, the inhabitants of Europa, one of Jupiter’s moon.
Why two Suns?
Well, why not three? There is still room available in the sky, right?
As so wisely stated by Jason Fried in his recent book “It doesn’t have to be crazy at work”, the corporate world is obsessed with languages of war, probably a consequence of the “winner takes all” mentality, the good old zero-sum game. They “conquer the market”, “capture” customers, employ sales “forces” and hire “headhunters”. With such a will to decimate the competition, it gets much easier to justify the usage of dirty tricks. The bigger the battle, the dirtier it gets.
Even giants like Apple, Amazon, Google, and Facebook, which we all know employ some of the cited tactics and, especially Google and Facebook, also manipulate masses via algorithms, don’t have 100% of market share.
As investors, we cannot fall into the trap of investing all our money in corporations that are working their way up to be the only Sun in the sky. The throne is fragile and the rest 99% which are not sharing it, also wants a piece of the sky, even if it’s just to shine a cold light on us all.
