Tackle Today: Trading Audibles

What plays are you calling?

As Peyton Manning walks under center, he scans the field and the defense in front of him to digest what they could be possibly scheming to defend his offensive attack. It doesn’t take long for him to figure out what his next plan of action is, then the next thing you hear from your TV is “OMAHA! ,OMAHA!, OMAHA!” signaling to his team that he is changing the original play that was called in the huddle which in football terminology would be called an audible. It may be obvious as to why I’m bringing this up considering how for some of us, our daily lives have taken a 180 for those who do not work at home like myself and not only working from home, but even trading for some of us as well. Every time my opportunity comes around to write for the Friday Feature, I always ask myself “what’s currently going on right now in my life present moment that I believe could relate to the community or what am I currently going through trading wise that could be helpful to someone who could be thinking the same exact thing that could benefit them knowing they’re not alone”.

For me, what I’m currently going through right now due to COVID-19 as a fitness professional, I have to readjust how I will generate income through my clients and keeping them in shape while gyms are closed and from a trading perspective, I’ve to spent more time practicing day trading techniques through think or swims on demand feature for myself because swing trading did not seem appropriate by any means at the time with how the market was moving the past two weeks. I refused to sit on the couch and tank it in. I believe in times like this you must force yourself to do things that you could afford not to do “aka, getting out of your comfort zone” to make things happen. So, for me as a personal trainer, I decided to give virtual training a shot even though I was not in the most positive mindset prior to giving it a legitimate chance. Little did I know after training five clients from my computer almost as if I’m a professional day trader, how simple, fun and easy it was to make money doing something I enjoy to do for a living and has completely changed my mindset about training moving forward once life comes back to normal for our society. This situation is a perfect example of staying positive and making the most out of the current situation when sometimes things are out of your control. I’ve always said once I joined Tackle Trading, that if I could just dedicate my life to just fitness and trading, I’m happy. Now I’m saying this at a younger age in life so obviously that could and probably will change, but I recently trained three clients virtually all subsequently after one another, then looking at the S&P and saw a technical trigger intra day and placed a profitable day trade all from my computer and thought to myself “damn, this is the life”. It gave me a taste of what I want my life to be at some point regularly and it motivated me to be more discipline about putting my plan to workout and honestly it’s forced me to sharpen my skillset not only as a trainer, but trader as well, the education doesn’t stop.

Sometimes life forces up to audible, like defenses have forced Peyton to do his whole professional career that has helped pave the way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the next year or two since he’s retired. But like Manning has, it’s a lot about your fixing mindset and how you can turn a situation that impacted you negatively, to work in your favor for the best. Wasting time dwelling on what it could’ve been doesn’t allow us to move forward in a positive direction. Now is a great time to figure out for ourselves, what opportunities can we take advantage of during this period of our lives to gives us an edge once our world comes back to what it was, only better.
