Markets can be very cooperative in letting you know when the volatility is over. When volatility strikes, it feels like there is no bottom, that the selling pressure will never stop and can cause quite the anxiety in traders. While every period of volatility takes its own life form, one thing that markets have been in recent years is very cooperative in letting you know when the selling pressure has likely abated.

Support builds after periods of volatility for the last several years have been the markets “Poker Tell” that the selling pressure is likely over in the short-term. It seems like when markets want to sell in recent years, they sell and for several days it can be very dramatic. When the drama stops, and support starts to build, this has set the stage for the next market rally.

When the support builds have been longer in length, the rally that ensues have also been stronger. We have seen this multiple times in the last few years. It is something we should all be looking for in the coming weeks. When it happens, you can be sure we will be talking about it here, in the Halftime Report and all of our other programming.
