Markets down a smidge to start the week after a very strong start to the month of April. Fed support, lower yields helping tech, stimulus checks, a potential infrastructure bill, retail sales, successful vaccine distribution in the US and solid earnings reports so far have all have helped play their part in adding to the bullish sentiment creating a monster three-week rally.

Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and other banks forced the hedge fund Archegos Capital to liquidate positions through large block trades on Friday after the hedge fund, which was using extreme leverage, was issued margin calls.

Markets are up at the start of the week as rising rate fears of eased a little at the start of the week. The 10y yield hit as high as 1.61% on Thursday but has fallen as low as 1.43% on Monday morning. While this certainly will not be the main storyline impacting the market indefinitely, it has become the dominate theme over the last couple of trading sessions with techs performance in particular tied to whether rates have gone up or down on that trading day.
